LG will officially show off its new 2020 8K TV lineup at CES next week from January 7 through January 10. LG’s 2019 lineup of TVs also support AirPlay 2 and HomeKit, but the company has refused to roll out the features to older models. This includes things like powering on and off, switching inputs, Siri control, and automation.
With AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support, the new LG TVs can be controlled via the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Based on an intelligent deep learning network, AI 8K Upscaling delivers vivid and accurate 8K images by analyzing the content and applying Quad Step Noise Reduction and frequency-based Sharpness Enhancer to increase lower resolution content to near 8K perfection. LG also touts the new Alpha 9 Gen 3 AI processor, which enables 8K upscaling:īy leveraging deep learning technology, the 2020 lineup delivers optimized picture and sound quality for all types of content through AI-based 8K upscaling. There’s also support for 8K content streaming at 60 frames-per-second. LG’s 2020 TVs can play native 8K content from HDMI and USB digital inputs, including codecs such as HEVC, VP9 and AV1. LG says all of these TVs exceed the 8K Ultra HD definition set by the Consumer Technology Association. There are also six NanoCell models, including the 75/65 Nano99, 75/65 Nano97, and 75/65 Nano95. LG’s lineup includes the 88-inch and 77-inch Signature OLED 8K TVs at the high-end. In total, LG has announced eight new options ranging from 65-inches to 88-inches, all with support for AirPlay 2 and HomeKit integration. Your Mac is now mirrored to your LG TV.Ahead of CES officially kicking off next week, LG has announced its 2020 lineup of 8K TVs. Select your LG TV then choose the name of your Mac to connect. On your Mac, click the AirPlay icon located on the right side of the Menu bar. Using your TV remote to navigate to the Smart Share feature of your TV. I have ensured that the TV and device is connected to the same wifi (5.GHZ) but still does not work. However, some of the Macbooks and iPhone works, but some don't. I am unable to connect my Macbook Pro 2016 or iPhone XS Max to it. I have the OLED TV with Airplay version 25.01 and 11.529.0. You can share screen directly from an iPhone to an Apple TV using Airplay. Note: AirPlay is only supported from Mac device to Mac device.
In the case you are using a Mac device to share your information, AirPlay will only allow you to stream to a Mac device, however, LG supports AirPlay 2 in its 2019 models.
AirPlay 2 will make it possible for users to stream content from iOS and iPadOS devices directly to their LG TV without the need for an Apple TV set-top box.
